Pilates for lower back painI have pain in my lower back some days after work and I’ve heard that pilates can help alleviate lower back pain. Is it enough for me to do 30 minutes of pilates a day and start feeling better? 0

Hi there,
Just in case you have not found the answer to your question, here is my view. A great majority people find Pilates really useful in alleviating or diminishing their back pain. On the other hand depending on the nature of the back pain, Pilates or certain movements such as flexion or extension or rotation may be contraindicated. If your back pain is caused uniquely by adopting the wrong posture at work (as you mentionned that your pain often occurs after work), Pilates and its principles of alignment and functional posture may be of great help to you. My recommendation would be to have your back pain assessed by a medical practioner and then either join a small group class or take private sessions with a qualified Pilates instructor who will teach you not only Pilates exercises but also the principles of alignment that you can use in your everyday life. There are of course books and videos available which can complement the advice of your medical practitioner and Pilates teacher.
Best wishes
