Is Winsor Pilates for me?

I keep seeing the Winsor Pilates program on TV and of course, it LOOKS really good. I have a bad back which I want to get in shape and I’m hoping Pilates would work for me. Any suggestions?

  1. If you have a bad back then Winsor Pilates is NOT for you. I personally do not like the Winsor Pilates program as it doesn’t appear to be modified enough for beginners or special populations. Although it may seem expensive, the best advice I can give you is to purchase some private or semi private Pilates sessions from a reputable studio with properly trained and qualified instructers. Pilates is a very good therapuetic exercise modality if taught correctly. Your back condition needs to be assessed before you begin a Pilates program to determine which exercises would be suitable and which would be contraindicated. I would recommend anyone thinking of taking up Pilates by following a DVD or T.V workout to first invest in some private tuition to learn the basic foundation exercises and be assured that you can do them correctly. If you cannot afford to keep up private sessions, at least you will have some basic knowledge to help you choose an appropriate DVD or book and be able to understand and follow the instructions
